The sign in the kitchen said: This is a Self Cleaning kitchen. Clean up after Yourself.
The garden is a kitchen too. Every spring, the ingredients come together to make magnificent landscapes, the earth flowers to life. Every inch of the earth blooms. Yet when the season ends, as all things do, the earth self cleans. Plants disintegrate, leaves decay. The earth cleanses and readies itself for a new cycle.
Visitors in the garden aren`t so meticulous. They leave their discards behind, defacing the garden. An empty pop can, a discarded piece of waste, an old plastic bag. These discards not only rest on the surface and create visual disharmony but they break down the integrity of the garden.
We too are a kitchen of sorts. Every day brings us the ingredients of our being through the thoughts we think. We experience and we respond through our thinking and our thoughts. Some thoughts are like the flowers but some are like the discards that others leave with us. These thoughts lead to the breaking down of our integrity and harmony turning us from a positive happy being to a negative, bitter one.
Each day we need to spend some time in our internal kitchen- self cleaning. Today, if someone hurt your feelings, if you find yourself complaining or blaming something or someone, if negative thoughts are running a circuit in your brain, then you have discarded leftovers which need to be cleaned
How do we keep our internal landscape clean
With the situation that is defiling your landscape in mind , give Hoʻoponopono (ho-o-pono-pono) a try. It is an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness.
Tell yourself. I do not all that is going on here.
Please forgive me. Please forgive me. Please forgive me.
I am sorry I am sorry I am sorry
